Learn how to curb impulse buying and adopt mindful spending habits to save money. Discover effective ways to control debt and achieve financial freedom

How many times have you bought something only to have it sit in the back of the closet, the bottom of a drawer or tucked away to be forgotten at the back of a cupboard? Impulse buying accounts for about $151.00 per month for the average American in 2023. That’s down from 2022 and 2021, which is great, but I suspect that will creep back up overtime. $151.00 each month may not seem like a large sum, but when coupled with all the other mindless spending we do over a year it adds up. I’ve been harping on the all the little ways we spend that can add up, from dining out, to the cost of one off trips in our car and more. Adding on impulse buys adds up to about $1,800.00 annually. If you are an average American you have about $5,700.00 credit card debt. You can pay that off in one year by avoiding dining out, saving $3,500.00 per year, avoiding impulse buys saving $1,800.00 per year and making a couple of other small changes, like combining errands that require driving with other ...

Discover a step-by-step roadmap for your post-retirement entrepreneurial journey. Plan your endeavor, tackle challenges, and create your path to success.

How to plan for your new entrepreneurial endeavor How much time would you like to devote to your new entrepreneurial endeavor? How much income do you need from your efforts? These two questions will give you a great starting point for your post retirement career journey. It can be challenging to know how long it will take to see results. Navigating the Path of Post-Retirement Careers: Lessons from My Journey

You are reading this because you are post retirement career curious. Maybe you are done with the work you’ve been doing for the past several years, or decades. Perhaps you want to be sure you have supplemental income after you retire, or you simply want a change that is sustainable. I decided to pursue a post retirement career when I was fifty years old. That was eight years ago. My decision was based on my realization that I would not be able to support myself later in life if I didn’t earn. My spouse and I decided to take time out of work in order to travel the world. I’m grateful I was able to do this while I was still healthy and able to get around easily. Eight years later and I’m not as fit as I was in my early fifties. Ahh ageing. Knowing that travel is a priority in my life I was considering how my life would change once I spent a significant amount of my savings to see the world coupled with the loss of wages for what was originally a year that morphed into several...

How would you like a bit of inspiration?

When considering a post retirement career, you may think you’ll be alone. The reality is that you’ll be in excellent company. A few examples of folks who thrived later in life include Julia Child, who began her television career at 51. Well before her television career Julia led a life of privilege having gone to boarding school as well as Smith College. She grew up in a home with a cook. No doubt her privilege contributed to her success, along with effort, support, and burning passion. Still to be a woman on television at 51 years of age and beyond remains a remarkable feat, even today when attitudes towards mature women remain subject to outright dismissal as not viewer-friendly. Martha Stewart is another well-known television personality. She launched her encore career at 41 with her first book and became a media mogul with books, television programs, and more. Betty White, the famous actress didn’t change careers but worked until she was 99 years old. Grandma Moses t...
